Final Fantasy XI – 02

Written by Talimore on May 21st, 2010

I leveled up! I hit level 33 today after a couple of hours partying with these two nice people. The setup was, from left to right, White Mage (Boarax), Beastmaster (Boldwin – aka Me), and Red Mage (Legatus). We were leveling up in the Jungle and believe it or not I ended up dieing about three times saving these two. It was a lot of fun though, as you can see.

So I never explained my character that well. Right now I’m playing Beastmaster because… well… I like it. People have mixed feelings on Beastmasters because some say that they are good and others just hate them. Well most players, from my personal experience, don’t like Beastmaster. Beastmaster is one of the few jobs in this game that can play, relatively well, by themselves. Every other class can play alone but they can’t do half as well alone as they can in a party. Beastmaster is an exception to the rule and a good one at that. The main reason for that is because a Beastmaster can tame wild monsters to fight for them and they don’t have to share experience points with the tamed beast. So every Beastmaster is a party of two already.

Fairy Tail 184

Written by Blink Angel on May 21st, 2010

Last week was an intriguing chapter which ended in Lucy preparing for battle in some beachwear. This war has taken many changes of scenery from dungeons to fairgrounds and even a random monster school but now it’s time for Lucy to show us what she’s made of!

It’s appears to be an incredibly short battle, Lucy’s first summon Taurus is wiped out in less than two pages, luckily she opens the gate of the maiden and Virgo is quick to pummel the enemy through the floor whilst Coco continues with her moral dilemma.

Of course, none of us really expected Lucy to win a match that easily but turning into a giant tentacle monster was a bit out of the blue and she’s running low on magic. Will Lucy step up to the challenge or is she going to end up the damsel in distress once again? As it turns out Virgo throws her an extending whip courtesy of the Spirit World. Her courage is fueled by the care from her stellar spirits and desire to save her friends Lucy once again steps into action binding the monster/squid/man with her new weapon. Natsu as always makes a rather explosive entrance and unintentionally delivers the final blow whilst defeating his own opponent in the process.

I still think we can call this a victory for Lucy; she’s grown slowly as a fighter in her time at Fairy Tail showed us she’s made of tougher stuff. After seeing how far Lucy will go to protect her friends Coco finally decides to hand over the key but where’s the fun in that. Naturally Sugarboy swoops in during the aftermath of the battle and swipes the key but luckily Gray is in close pursuit and he’s somehow commandeered a motorbike. This battle may be won but there will be many battles ahead before they can free their friends.

Naruto Shippuden 161

Written by Talimore on May 21st, 2010

We’re getting closer and closer to the epic episodes! Naruto Shippuden 161 brings us the new found talents of Konohamaru Sarutobi, a ninja of the next generation. I say next generation because he is a lot younger then the rest of the main characters and graduated from Ninja Academy years after the rest. What makes this character compelling is that he is Naruto’s rival for the title of Hokage. Naruto helped him out years ago and has continued to teach him and his friends various things throughout the years.

This episode is about Konohamaru discovering his “way of the Ninja.” Konohamaru is overlooking one of the many Pains and he decides he should run but is found out. His current teacher, Ebisu, comes to his aid and tries to distract Pain while Konohamaru runs but something changes within Konohamaru.

Final Fantasy XI – 01

Written by Talimore on May 20th, 2010

Hello everyone and welcome to my first Final Fantasy XI update. Your probably wondering why I haven’t updated my WoW updates for a while. And the reason isn’t that I quit WoW, because I’m still playing, but because In WoW I’m not really doing much. I don’t like posting about how I killed the same boss again, or got an extra drop… That doesn’t sound interesting at all. But good news! I started playing FFXI again.

For those who don’t know what FFXI (Final Fantasy XI) is, it is another MMORPG (Massively Multilayer Role Playing Game) made by the same people who make all the other Final Fantasy games, Square Enix. It’s a game that allows the player to choose from one of five races and then the player must choose their Job. Your’ job is what you do in the game. If you want to heal then you choose to be a White Mage, if you want to deal Magic Damage then you can become a Black Mage, and so on. There is a bit more to it but I’m not going to go into to much detail, all you need to know is that there are several unique jobs and any character can be anyone at any time. What that means is, if you start at a White Mage and decide you want to be a Black Mage you can switch and you don’t lose anything. Each Job, or most commonly used term “class”, in the game on your’ character has its own level. So if you level White Mage to Lv. 14 and switch to Black Mage then your’ White Mage will always be Lv. 14, until you switch back, but your Black Mage will start at Lv. 1.

Fairy Tail 182.5

Written by Blink Angel on May 14th, 2010

Spring has Arrived

I have to say this year’s sakura was a stunning sight and in celebration of the colourful season we have a full colour bonus chapter! The sakura have already come and gone and this chapter actually went on sale in March, however, here it is for you to enjoy again.

During this season it is customary in Japan to participate in Hananmi (cherry blossom viewing), where everyone gathers together under the sakura trees with family, friends and neighbours for a huge booze fest, I mean…family picnic so this is where the chapter begins with everyone from Fairy Tail having a wonderful time, well, almost everyone. Unfortunately poor Lucy is sick with cold and is forced to stumble back into bed leaving a despondent Happy and Natsu to come up with a cunning plan to try and cheer her up after missing the Hanami she was so excited about seeing-how sweet.

Lucy is disturbed from her sleep by cries of anger and shock when she peers out the window only to see one of Magnolia’s famous rainbow blossom trees uprooted and floating down the river on a boat outside her window and yet she can’t help but be amazed by the beauty of it.

The following morning Lucy is back in top health as guild master Makarov storms in furiously demanding to know who uprooted the town’s precious cherry trees…who indeed.

Naruto Shippuden 160

Written by Talimore on May 13th, 2010

Another week, another Naruto Shippuden Episode and this week we got another good one. For anyone who reads the Naruto Manga then you know what they are building up to and I won’t ruin it for anyone but In another 2-3 weeks Naruto Shippuden will have its’ best episode yet. This isn’t that episode but it is still a great episode to watch. In this episode we get to see a little on pains past, a little progression with Naruto’s training and a whole lot of fighting.

The episode starts out with a short view of Naruto beginning the next, and final, stage in his training but then quickly moves onto an interrogation scene. Konoha is interrogating the body of one of the Pains to try and unlock the secret of their enemy. This scene is really interesting though because we get to see something they have never really shown us before, ninja interrogation methods. Basically, in the Naruto Universe, when you interrogate someone you put your self in their mind and watch them live their lives. Some ninjas are better then this at others. The ninja leading the interrogation was able to see half of the persons day in only 30 seconds. I can just image how real interrogation would go if we had abilities like this.

The Humble Indie Bundle

Written by konfuzed on May 13th, 2010

Have you ever been frustrated that the games you’re playing feel unoriginal and soulless? That your games don’t support Mac or Linux? That your money goes largely to middlemen? That intrusive DRM treats you like a criminal for buying a game? That you only get one thing with each purchase, and if it’s no good you’re out of luck? That you can’t afford a game, but have no option to at least pay what you can and play it anyway, instead of giving them none of your money and not playing it, therefore leaving both parties worse off? What if all of those complaints could go away, and you’d get to benefit charities to boot? Enter “The Humble Indie Bundle”.

So far, they’ve raised around $1.1 million and went open source with 4 of the 6 games.

If you visit within the next few days, you can pay ANY PRICE you want to, and you’ll get 6 awesome indie games. Normally you’d have to pay nearly 100$. (Even if you’re short on cash, you really should at least give a buck or two though; otherwise they’d LOSE money on fees and bandwidth.) The two charities benefited are Child’s Play, an organization that buys video games for kids who are stuck in the hospital long-term with painful conditions, and the Electronic Frontier Foundation, an organization that fights for citizen rights in this new age of technology, where so many new rules that will define the way technology can be used in years to come are being defined.

On top of contributing to charity, you get:

LOST 6×15

Written by konfuzed on May 13th, 2010

If any one thing about Lost has been consistent, it’s been that the storytelling has always been innovative and surprising. We’ve had flash backs, flashes forward, events from the perspective of the enemy, off-island lives concurrent with on-island lives, time travel, and finally flashes sideways into a parallel universe. Now we’re finally settling into the storytelling leading up to the finale, and they give us the totally unexpected: they break momentum and tell the backstory of Jacob and the Man in Black in a methodical episode, moreso under the lens of fantasy than the science-fiction we’ve been seeing lately. Right before the finale, in this entire episode, they didn’t show so much as a single new scene with any main character. It might not have worked out perfectly, but that’s ballsy.

The episode starts with… some pregnant woman we’ve never seen before washing up on shore? We don’t know what’s going on, but the scene is beautiful. She’s greeted by another unknown woman. She helps the pregnant woman, who we now know is Claudia, give birth, and we see that her children are the men who seemed like gods, Jacob and the Man in Black (or Baby in Black, I suppose.) Wow, they’re brothers! The unknown woman then picks up a rock and proceeds to smash Claudia’s brains out. They’re her children now.

She raises them in ignorance. Kid in Black is deceptive and independent, whereas Jacob seems like a very honest mama’s boy. Kid in Black is easily the more likable of the two, despite there previously being every indication that the Man in Black is the villain of the show. The two of them play a game with black and white stones: we finally get to see where the stones we’ve seen came from! The game is apparently an ancient egyptian one called Senet; considering the statue of Taweret, we may not be done with flashbacks to long ago just yet.
